Thinking/Creating with Active Materials

Electrically activated Thermochromatic Ink.

Simple monochromic displays can be made from thermochromic ink (heat activated color changing ink) with conductive ink heating elements.

Combining thermochromic ink (heat activated colour changing ink) with conductive ink heating elements can produce a simple monochromic display technology. Displays produced with these materials have the unique quality of extremely slow responses to electric activation compared with consumer displays, creating a novel effect of gradual organic colour change. Almost any flat substrate can be printed on with these materials, allowing diverse and unexpected materials to be transformed into an electronic display.
