Constructing screens from scratch proved to be a great introduction to the nature of the material and how it works. First impressions were that DIY EL is limited in its application compared to commercial produced screens, due to its fragile nature and apparent unpredictability. The video bellow shows the first test screen after a few hours, with signs of delamination between the phosphor layer and ITO coated glass. A few more attempts showed that with some care and a little skill, more predictable outcomes could be achieved.
